Homeschool Workforce Development & Career Readiness

It's time to add Career Technical Education (CTE)

to our homeschooling journeys.

Career Technical Education (CTE) prepares students for high-skill, high-demand careers by combining rigorous academics with hands-on, industry-specific training. Offered in middle school, high school, and postsecondary settings, CTE pathways help students develop workforce-ready skills while preparing for college, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship, technical careers, and employment opportunities.

CTE empowers homeschool students to discover purpose, build confidence, and develop durable skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, adaptability, and critical thinking—skills needed for college, careers, and lifelong success. CTE helps homeschool students develop workforce-ready skills while exploring college, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship, technical careers, and employment opportunities.

Yes. Career Preparation and Job Readiness (Course #32.43200) is a year-long CTE transcript-ready course that equips students with essential workplace skills including leadership, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving. Led by experienced business leader Tim Jarnagin and Career Technical Education instructor Nicole Doyle, students also participate in a second-semester Employer-Based Learning Opportunity (EPIC) with real-world workplace experience. Class size is limited to 10–12 students. In-person at Eastside Academic Studies (Tucker, Georgia).

EPIC is designed to provide students with: ➔ STEM-industry experience ➔ Hands-on career learning experience, ➔ Digital durable skills credential for resume or LinkedIn. ➔ Preparation for future internships.

Employer Provided Innovation Challenges

EPIC is an initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and is made possible by the generous support of American Student Assistance (ASA), the Walton Family Foundation, and the Stand Together Trust. EPIC provides learners and workers with access to authentic, employer-sponsored project-based learning through a network of business associations and other challenge providers. EPIC provides employers, as well as education and workforce development partners with a standardized platform to scale and credential employer-sponsored challenges that support career awareness, exploration, and development. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is working with its national network of business associations and employers to make authentic project-based learning available at scale.
